Our Practice

Dental care is about you, your overall health and lifestyle. My professional team and I want your dental care to be something that you look forward to. At Avon Family Dentistry, we believe it is important for you to be heard, to be expertly cared for, and to be comfortable. Your comfort is our main concern, from the relaxation of our reception area to the privacy of your own examination room. We believe that the informed patient is more relaxed; because of this we will take time to communicate and educate you about your dental health and care.

Meet Dr. Abigail Mitchell

Dr. Mitchell grew up in Greencastle, IN with a large family who values helping others and positively impacting the community around them. She believes these characteristics have helped shape her into the empathetic, patient-focused provider she is today. Dr. Mitchell values patient-centered care, compassion, collaboration, transparency in communication and the continued pursuit of knowledge and skills to provide the best care for her patients. She received her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Indiana University School of Dentistry and graduated in the top 20% of her class. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from IUPUI. Dr. Mitchell is a member of the Indiana Dental Association, American Dental Association and the Indianapolis District Dental Society. In her free time, Dr. Mitchell loves to try new restaurants or watch movies with her husband, and spend time with her dog, her family and friends. She is so excited to meet all of her new patients and settle down in the Hendricks County Community!

Our Process

Insurance: We accept all insurance plans, as well as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. Since we believe in affordable, accessible dental care for everyone, we also offer qualified patients, CareCredit®, a convenient, low minimum monthly payment program.

Check In: You will be personally greeted as you arrive and invited to take a seat in the comfort of our reception area. Our courteous professionals will verify completion of your medical and account information forms.

Time with Dr. Mitchell: This is one of the key factors that makes our office unique. During your first examination, Dr. Mitchell reserves exclusive time to spend speaking with you, listening, and addressing all of your questions and concerns. Our patients routinely say this is the most thorough examination they have ever had.

Scheduling: Simply call 317.272.7715 and we will find convenient appointment options that work for you and your family. We will gladly confirm insurance benefits and have your previous dental records forwarded to us prior to your appointment. For your convenience, you can access and complete your medical and dental account forms or we will gladly mail these forms to you.

Location: 7318 East US Highway 36 in our new, state of the art facility in the heart of Avon. We are two blocks east of State Road 267 on the north side of U.S. 36.

Private Examination Room: Expect a pleasant and relaxing experience in the comfort of your private examination room. You can also expect to be treated with the finest, most advanced equipment from an experienced and detailed dentist you can trust.

Check Out: Your experience will be private and personalized. Our trained professionals will discuss your insurance benefits, treatment plan fees, payment options and schedule future appointments. Fee for service or insurance copayment is collected at this time.

Meet our Front Office Team

Our front office personnel, Jody and Mindy, are ready to address your scheduling, insurance and payment needs. They will provide you with information about your dental visit, clarify any questions you may have about appointment length and what your clinical visit will entail. In addition, they will gladly assist in transferring any current records from your previous dental provider.

Clinical Team

Our licensed dental hygienists provide comfortable and thorough cleanings. Our hygienists work closely with Dr. Mitchell in educating you with home care instructions and customizing the type of cleaning that will address your oral health needs.

A Letter From Dr. De La Rosa

Dear Valued Patients and Colleagues,

I opened Avon Family Dentistry in 1990 with the goal of providing patients comfortable, state-of-the-art, quality care. For thirty-four years, my dental team and I have been driven to engage our patients and develop long lasting, professional relationships. We have been honored to provide you compassionate, patient-centered care; excellent communication and education.

The time has come to transition my dental practice. During this transition, I will stay on for a few months to complete patient treatment in process. I will also continue my dental philanthropic work, my leadership roles in several professional associations and my community involvement.

As of March 29th, 2024, join me in welcoming Dr. Abigail H. Mitchell as the new owner of Avon Family Dentistry. Dr. Mitchell is a Hoosier native, and an Indiana University School of Dentistry graduate who brings a wealth of professionalism and a passion for providing personalized, excellent dental care to her patients.

Dr. Mitchell will provide both existing and new patients the exceptional standard of care you have come to expect. I believe Dr. Mitchell emulates the characteristics which I have valued and practiced during my career. I have every confidence the practice will continue to thrive under her care and leadership.
